About Me
My names Joel Pollard and I am currently 23 years old. At the moment I am living at home with my family which consists of my 2 parents, 2 sisters and 3 dogs. Some interesting facts that you might like to know about me include, I’m a massive St Kilda supporter and have been since I was born, I play football for a side called De La Salle and I enjoy catching up with friends over the weekend.
My process on becoming a teacher has been long but very enjoyable experience. Back when I was in my primary years I attended a primary school called Bentleigh West. During my time there I was lucky enough to have some very impressive teachers who managed to push me to my limits. This pressure for me to succeed has always stayed with me and it has guided me through life. The fact that I had such great teachers/role models made me want to be the same to the students of the future.
At the end of grade 6, I moved to De La Salle College in Malvern and stayed there until Year 12. My Time at De La Salle was fantastic as they were heavily into their sport and this was always a passion for me.
At the conclusion of year 12, I unfortunately did not get the marks required to move straight into a teaching course but it did allow me to study at TAFE. Whilst at TAFE I studied a Diploma of Sport and Recreation, Diploma in Business and a Certificate III in Fitness. In my time at TAFE they provided me with many opportunities to work with primary aged students and this helped reinforce my intentions to become a teacher.
During my time at TAFE I had also started an employment at Camp Australia. This company is one of the biggest organisations that works with children. My time at Camp Australia has provided me with an opportunity to work with children as young as 4, all the way to year 12. This experience is one that I value highly as it has been the source of most of my teaching abilities.
