TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
"Each child is an individual who needs a safe, caring, and encouraging environment in which to grow and mature emotionally, academically, physically, and socially. It is my role as a teacher to help students meet their potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. "

What are my personal beliefs?
- Students should be the number 1 priority at all times. Students are the most important part of teaching as they are what makes it so enjoyable. If we have students not well, being bullied, not being cared for or just not coping, then we as teachers are failing to do our job. Key factors in making sure they are looked after include; providing a safe, caring and encouraging environment .Ways in which I will endeavour to create this type of environment include; As the teacher, act as a guide that students look up to, allow the students interests direct which way they learn and lastly provide opportunities that will create the best possible results.
Why teaching is important to me?
- Teaching to me is very important for a number of reasons. Firstly being a teacher enables you the chance to take on a responsibility that not many people in the world have. This responsibility is guiding the next generation of leaders through their early development and providing them with every opportunity to be confident in themselves to live highly successful lives.
- The next importance of teaching to me is that having the power to build knowledge into the brain of a young student really makes you feel good about yourself. For example, when you are teaching a student the similarities between multiplication and division, the moment when it clicks in their head that they are just in reverse of each other, just shows you that your clearly in the right profession. During my most recent placement at Sandringham East, I have noticed on quite a few occasions this same sense of achievement. Every time one of my grade 1 students now has a breakthrough, the surge of excitement through them sends Goosebumps through you as it is amazing to see.
- As a teacher I want to achieve in many different areas. The key areas include; Being a teacher who students look up to for guidance, reassurance, safety and someone who can share a bundle of knowledge. If I am able to manage each of these key aspects then I will have succeeded in my objective.
